About

Prior to teaching in Indiana Wesleyan University’s Adult Professional Studies program and the University of Phoenix’s online program, I joined the Indiana 4-H Foundation in April, 2003 as Director of Development partnered with the Indiana State Fair Commission and Purdue University Cooperative Extension service to raise funds for the Education Complex at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.  The campaign resulted in $250,000 raised in 120 days from 1,000 donors.

From 2001 to 2003, I served as Director of Marketing and Corporate Development for the Health Institute of Indiana where I produced television commercials and direct marketing campaigns to drive membership acquisition to the Healthplex Sports Club.  Between 1999-2001, I worked for Wesley Manor Retirement Community as Director of Marketing and Development and was successful in securing a $10,000 Indiana Department of Commerce grant to plan the organization’s 80-acre expansion.  I also have experience with Arts Indiana as educational program manager, The Prudential Key Realty as marketing coordinator, and was a classroom teacher and work as a consultant with DEW Business Services, The Edge, and Leadership Ventures, and the United Methodist Church facilitating Financial Peace University, Good $ense Ministry courses, Fruitful Congregations Journey’s Lay Leadership Development, and Rethink Church.

I received a BS degree in Area Music Education from Indiana State University, and MS Ed. degree from Purdue University and am completing a dissertation for the Doctor of Religious Studies degree from Trinity College in Curriculum and Instruction.

I’m a career-long teacher and facilitator of adult learning.  In addition to my adjunct faculty appointments, I am a lecturer in the Purdue University College of Technology’s Organization Leadership & Supervision program.  In 2004 I was appointed by Governor Joe Kernan as a Commissioner on the Indiana Occupational Safety Standards Board and was elected its Chairman in 2006.  In 2007 I was elected President of Metro Ministries, Inc.  President Clinton appointed me to the US Selective Service System Local Board in 1993 and President Obama appointed me to the US Selective Service System District Appeals Board in 2011. Since 1995 I have co-chaired the 500 Festival Parade.  I am married to the Therese (Wagner), a physical therapist.  We have a son, Andrew, born in 1997, and a daughter, Abigail, born in 2002.
